In this week's chapter, we discuss entrepreneurial strategy and competitive dynamics. Since Disney has been a well-established enterprise for decades, I want to focus on the competitive dynamics. While Disney has been able to remain at the top of its competitive dynamic, it has to continuously look into the future of what is trending and keep an eye on its competitors. For example, Netflix launched its streaming services 2007, which started the streaming wars. This significantly threatened Disney, driving DVD and movie rental sales down. To improve its market position and capitalize on the growing demand, Disney finally launched their streaming platform, Disney Plus, in 2019. Even though they launched their streaming service in 2019, it is a secondary business, whereas it's Netflix's first base business. This means Netflix can stay updated with trends and pour more energy and funds into streaming. At the same time, Disney focuses on their overall experience between the parks, streaming, and image. For Disney to continue to compete with Netflix, they will need to shift some focus on their streaming services' new dynamic.
