In this chapter, we discussed human capital. Human capital is described as the knowledge, skills and experience of the employees within the company. There are three interdependent activities within human capital: attracting human capital, developing and retaining.

In the new working generation, company loyalty has become a bigger issue. Workers are no longer feeling tide down to one place. If there is a better opportunity and or better environment they are not afford go after it. Which is why I think it is important to focus on retaining human capital. In order to retain employees’ companies have not only have competitive wages, but they always have to offer good benefits to keep workers. For example, Disney offers a large variety of untraditional benefits such as wellness programs, child care, free theme park admissions, exclusive discounts and commuter assistance. They invest in human capital with traditional benefits like tuition assistance, retirement plans, health insurance and paid time off for both full time and part time employees. It should be a priority for companies to invest more into their retention in order to maintain turnover rates.
